The RPM Development Environment (RPMDE) is used to help RPM-based Linux distribution managers, package managers and testers do their job more quickly and efficiently.

The RPMDE consists of two parts;

1) a front-end interface to manage the distribution

and

2) a back-end build daemon that handles the process of building the RPMs.

There is some standard formatting I will use throughout this documentation to help ease the complexities of setting up this system.

1. Any text shown in this format will be specific notes related to the Front-End aspect of the RPMDE

2. Any text shown in this format will be specific notes related to the Back-End aspect of the RPMDE

3. Any text shown in this format will be Shell commands

4. Any text in this format will indicate Text information.  This is usually used for configuration files.
